Sirius To End Free Online Streaming For Subscribers
If you have logged in to your Sirius (or probably XM, too) online radio account lately, you may have noticed that there is now a message stating that Sirius will start making their paying subscribers pay even more to continue to get what they get now for free. Yes, starting March 11th, subscribers will have to pay $2.99 more per month in order to continue to receive online internet streaming. The announcement says that they will be ‘upgrading’ the listening experience to ‘near CD-quality’ audio, but they have already had this available for some time. The only catch was that you had to pay extra for getting the upgraded sound quality if you wanted. But now the only difference is that now you HAVE to pay extra for the upgraded sound quality - if you want to listen to online streaming at all. I thought that having Sirius and XM merge together would be better for the customers, not worse. And on top of having to now pay more for a service that subscribers get included in the price they already pay, there are still channels that aren’t even available to stream online. Channels including CNBC and Bloomberg Radio and more Right now I think many subscribers, especially in these tough economic times, are looking at their bill from Sirius-XM and thinking twice about renewing their subscriptions. I know I sure am.
